HMH Founded

Harvey M. Hine founds an architecture firm in Boulder, Colorado and calls it “Harvey M. Hine Architects”

Lindrose Residence

The Lindrose Residence was job number 001. The project was a poptop of a house built (not very well) over many years by vocational students. Our job was to unify a disjointed building.

Eating Salad Was A Lot Cooler In The ’80s

HMH designed a chain of seven Salad Company restaurants. The chain specialized in a build-your-own salad bar, along with a soup buffet. Looking back, most fun of all is the Miami Vice color scheme, using a combination of bright and muted pastels with added pops of pink!

1994

White Residence

The White Residence was the first job designed using CADD. It was also the first large job taken by the firm. The 15,000 square foot house was designed using local materials and has a timeless quality. Thirty years later the house is as beautiful as when it was built.

15th Street Office Building

The 15th Street Office Building was HMH’s first venture into larger commercial projects. The 30,000 square foot building was custom designed for a Law Firm who owned the building.

Award Winner

Design Concepts

A mixed use building in a vernacular style, this building won the local newspaper’s People’s Choice Award. One resident claimed that the building had been there for many years prior and should not be getting the award.

Jessor / Menken Residence

When Dick Jessor approached HMH to build his home, he requested a Richard Meier-style house. In the same way that Richard Meier did his interpretation of modernism, this is the Harvey Hine version.

Located in an old industrial urban “loft” in Denver, the interiors were designed with an industrial modern aesthetic, which blends with the building and surrounding neighborhood.

2005

Rosenthal / Friedlander Home

When HMH was hired to design this home, Diane Rosenthal quoted Phillip Johnson’s definition of good architecture: ‘Does it make me cry when I step in?’ That’s how we approached the design.
