Trailhead House

Located in the Trailhead Neighborhood in Boulder with views toward Mt. Sanitas, this house was designed to support an active indoor/outdoor life. HOA guidelines required a pitched roof, so we were drawn to the idea of using geometric volumes in a series of connected pavilions. The pavilions took the form of simple gables, linked by a flat roof structure. The elevated pavilion accommodates the bedrooms and opens onto the roof deck of the more public spaces below. A light-filled stairwell provides access between pavilions and wraps around a concrete and glass wine tower. The main living area of the home is open plan, with the living room, kitchen and dining areas sharing the same space. Steel and glass sliding doors open the living space to a large patio creating an indoor/outdoor living environment.
