What would it be like if architects and designers were challenged with a different medium? What if they traded in floorplans for fuchsia? And blueprints for bromeliads? Welcome to Design In BloomModern In Denver magazine’s signature spring event, where architects and designers reveal innovative, architecturally inspired floral displays created by their teams.

What a fun night! Modern in Denver’s signature spring event, Design In Bloom, saw a capacity crowd and a host of creativity on April 27, 2017! Held at Space Gallery in the heart of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe, the event offered 20 architects and designers the chance to showcase their talents in the form of innovative floral designs and arrangements. Make sure to check out the photos on Facebook…there were a lot of amazing creations!

Testing out the idea of a red seat

This is the Tulip Tulip chair. Its name is more than explicit.

Not many one-legged chairs have achieved the recognition of the Eero Saarinen’s Tulip chair, nor have they proven to be such successful objects of design.

In the spirit of spring fun we decided to reinterpret this classic chair as a floral arrangement. Playing with the simplicity of a repeated gesture, the coat of tulips wraps the chair’s shell until all is covered. Dreamy and cloud like, this transforms a celebrated object of industrial design into something whimsical. It becomes a tribute to its namesake – a celebration of tulips. The chair makes everyone who sees it happy, like the gift of a bouquet of flowers.

Thanks to Modern in Denver for inviting us to participate and for another great year of Design In Bloom!
