In their 2011 Summer issue, Modern in Denver magazine published a very cool driving tour of some of Boulder’s best modern houses and buildings. Boulder’s well known mid-century modernists are represented (Haertling, Wagener, Easton and Hunter) side by side with active architects who are currently making their mark on modern design.

Included in the driving tour is the Jessor/Menken  (Stop Khome designed by Harvey Hine Architects (HMH Architecture + Interiors). From the exterior you will be able to see that the innovative shape of the house is composed of glass and wood contrasted by thick linear walls made of stucco.

Also included on the tour of Boulder’s Modern Houses is the Rosenthal/Friedlander home (Stop S) designed by HMH Architecture + Interiors. From the driving tour you will be able to see the 160 foot long wall which was created to organize the architecture and landscape. Outside this wall is a threshold between the court and the interiors, inside the wall displays art and leads you to the living room. Beyond the living room the wall continues to form a narrow reflecting pool.

Enjoy this driving tour at your leisure, but please be respectful of the homes and the people who live there.
